At the station Blankenheim Wald the Blankenheim branch of the Ahrtalbahn terminated. This was the second connection of the Ahrtalbahn to the Eifelbahn. The other was in Lissendorf and a third in Gerolstein.

The junction used to have 8 parallel tracks, but today only the 2 main Eifelbahn tracks, a passing loop and some sidings remain.

Up to today all Eifel trains pass trough the small bridge of the disused branch line.
