Dernau is the only station with a passing loop on the single track section before Kreuzberg. It used to have also a freight siding and an industrial siding to the company "Fix".

From 1955 to 1960 was a halt in the vincinity of the road bridge over the Ahr, but it was only serviced by the VT95 railcars.

In 2000 the steam trains powered by "Mikado" 41 360 ended their journey in Dernau.
